Turn your stubby pencil upside down
rub away the markings scrawled around.
Somebody's sagacious something
becomes nobody's nihilistic nothing.
Living like a lull,
a swept-away secret,
a flaming fissure in a fragment,
damned and dismissed,
a coquettish chaos
in my head.
Inspired by Robert Rauschenberg's Erased de Kooning Drawing. A not-so-famous artist erases the drawing of a semi-famous artist. I sometimes catch myself staring off into space and realize that the cause of that is because I'm thinking hard... the nothing yields something.

Or, as NPR lovingly put it:

"We are surrounded by Nothing. Everywhere we go, we have no idea what we're not seeing. We don't know what gravitational fields look like, what dark matter looks like, what quantum foam looks like, what de Kooning's drawing looked like, but what the scientists and the artists are telling us, in their very different ways, is that if we lean in, and pay very close attention, sometimes what looks like Nothing is the best place to find the most interesting...somethings."

intriguing poetic discourse on a fascinating (non)subject.
